PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

General Comments

The collaborative law process provides clients with a dignified, private, and safe structure in which to resolve their family disputes. The process focuses on the client's interests and needs and structures a resolution to accomplish the clients' goals.

One of the greatest gifts the collaborative law process offers clients is control over the outcome. When a person is first faced with divorce, the most common emotions are anger and fear. The collaborative law process gives clients a safe environment to confront both of these emotions head-on and structure a settlement that caters to their specific family needs, thereby giving them control over the outcome and alleviating fear of the unknown.

This process also allows clients an opportunity to speak and -- more importantly -- be heard, which is something that litigation rarely permits. By including clients in every step of the divorce process and providing a safe environment in which they can express their concerns, clients feel that their "side" is finally being heard.

In my experience, the collaborative law process provides clients with a far greater ability to reach a workable resolution to their divorce or other dispute while minimizing the damage to family relationships and preserving individual integrity.
